Yesterday I launched the new Port of Call Marina website. We have had a website for a few years but it wore out. Yes, just like everything else man-made, websites wear out. Hopefully we can get a few years out of this one.
So what is it that wears out? The way people use the web is always changing. For many years it was always bigger screens that designers had to compensate for but now the opposite is true. Now everything has to fit on a phone and still look good on a computer. We build this website in-house which was a bit challenging because we are a bit of an old-school marina. We stay current with the latest trends in Marine Technology, but when it comes to operations technology, the old pen and paper has served us well.
I would love to have some better photos and over time I plan to replace many of them. We do have a very nice video showing our Custom Dock Work. What really bothers me though is typos. I realized today that I had our phone number wrong so for the first 18-hours in the life of this site, we had the wrong phone number published. I read over the site a dozen times and still missed this glaring error. I think it is a matter that I cannot see my own mistakes. I can see mistakes others make but not my own, my eyes just seem to skip over them. So please, if you see some errors, email me at info@portofcall.ca.
I hope you find the new website easy to use and informative.
